Blaze In Cardiff Triumph

Coventry Blaze are two points clear at the top of the Elite League after a 5-4 shootout victory at Cardiff Devils.

Paul Thompson's team took the lead in the second minute through Slyvain Deschalets and went further ahead after 11.11 through Russ Cowley assisted by Ben Connor and Jon Weaver.

In the second period, it was all Cardiff. Mike Prpich scored first with Teplitsky, Wes Jarvis and Jason Silverthorn also finding the net. At the end of the period, Doug Maciver and Carlyle Lewis were given twenty minute penalties for misconduct.




Thirteen seconds in the third period, Jon Weaver scored for the Blaze. Nine more minutes elapsed but there was Adam Calder to fire Coventry level.

With no more score. the match went to a penalty shootout, Adam Calder scored his with Blaze net minder JF Perras making a save to give Coventry the win.

Tomorrow niight, Coventry Blaze are at home to Nottingham Panthers.
