Blaze Hit For Seven At Cardiff

Coventry Blaze in their last away Elite League game of the season went down to a 7-4 defeat tonight.

Around 20-30 Blaze fans attended but were dotted around due to the Cardiff Devils selling the away block to home fans. It was pretty much a full house and it was rocking when Stuart McRae scored unassisted on 9.45 and then Scott Matzka netted on 10.21.

Brett Jaeger was awesome, making stop after stop after stop but he was hung out to dry time and time again including when Jon Pelle made it 3-0 on 25.51.

The Blaze pulled one back through a powerplay goal from Luke Fulghum on 32.52 but Brad Voth's powerplay restored the three goal margin on 36.55.

A third powerplay goal fell for The Blaze when Luke Fulghum hit his second of the night, assisted by Jon Weaver and Rob Farmer four seconds before the end of the second period.

With Fulghum missing most of the third period, to a wrist injury (unsure how bad) and Jaeger having to be pulled after taking a blow to the head and was experiencing double vision. Murdy came on and made a few decent stops and looked solid, the Blaze scored a third twenty seconds into the third, thanks to Dan Carlson finding the net assisted by Brian Lee and Robert Farmer.

Stuart McRae made it 5-3 on 45.27 before an unassisted short hand goal from Sean Selsmer went in.

Any hope of a Blaze comeback ended when Ryan Finnerty and Gerard Adams both scored powerplay goals to give Cardiff, who are now battling it out with Belfast Giants who come to Coventry tomorrow, a 7-4 win .
