Coventry Blaze were beaten 6-4 this evening at home by Sheffield Steelers.

Paul Thompson's team which has a number of injuries, took the lead on 8.19 when Danny Stewart set up Russ Cowley who made no mistake.

Net Minder Peter Hirsch made some good stops as Blaze led going into the second.

Sheffield levelled through Jeff Legue when he fired home on 30.36 after the puck had bounced off Hirsch's pads for a powerplay goal.

Three minutes later and the Steelers scored again. This time, it was Robert Dowd who found the net for an unassisted powerplay goal.

Then with the Blaze fans looking at each other in disbelief, Jeff Legue found the net on 34.56, scoring from a Brad Cruickshank assist.

Into the third period and on 46.48, Coventry Blaze pulled one back through Greg Chambers, assisted by Carlson and Calder.

Sheffield went straight up the other end and Joe Talbot made it 4-2 to the Steelers when he scored on 47.54.

On 50.45, Brian Lee scored the third for the Blaze, assisted by Greg Chambers.

But hopes of a Blaze victory were dashed when Tegue completed his hat-trick with a power play goal on 53.35 and Robert Dowd hit his second of the night on 56.06.

Adam Calder hit a late goal on 57.46 but the game was over and Sheffield took the points.

It's back to back games against Belfast Giants next Sunday. On Saturday, the Blaze travel to Belfast before facing them on Sunday at The Sky Dome.
