Coventry Blaze Ice Hockey Club ended 2011 with a 3-2 over-time win over Cardiff Devils at the Sky Dome tonight.

Shea Guthrie fired the Blaze ahead with only 56 seconds gone, assisted by Jonathan Weaver and Jerramie Domish for a short-handed goal which came due to Dustin Wood getting two minutes for tripping after only twelve seconds.

Cardiff levelled through an unassisted Jeff Pierce goal on 2.53 and had more of the shots until they took the lead on 42.53 with a powerplay goal from Scott Dobben.

Cardiff thought they were heading for a victory but on 56.34, Owen Fussey scored, assisted by Dave Phillips and Shea Guthrie.

This took the match into over-time and after two minutes and four seconds, Shea Guthrie scored an unassisted goal to give Coventry a 3-2 victory.
