Blaze Cut Down By The Steelers

Coventry Blaze Ice Hockey team were beaten 4-2 at Sheffield Steelers tonight.

There was a good turn out of Blaze fans but they saw Sheffield take the lead on 9.50 with a powerplay goal from Simon Ferguson, assisted by Rod Sarich and Jeff Legue.

However, fifteen seconds later, the Blaze were level when Brad Leeb scored, assisted by Greg Leeb and Mike Schutte.

There was only one goal in the second period and that went to the Steelers on 22.45 when Tylor Michel scored on the powerplay, assisted by Simon Ferguson and Scott Champagne.

Into the third and it was all Sheffield when Ferguson scored his second and Sheffield's third on 45.39, assisted by Jonathan Phillips and Danny Meyers.

Michel turned provider on 46.44, when he and Champagne set up Jeff Legue for a fourth.

Dustin Cameron scored a second for The Blaze on 56.25, assisted by Shea Guthrie and Mike Egene but it was too little too late.

The Blaze are at home to Belfast Giants on Sunday. Face off is at 5.15pm.
