Coventry Blaze Ice Hockey team went down to a 3-2 defeat at Sheffield Steelers tonight.

The evening started badly for Coventry when Chad Huttel put Sheffield ahead on 1.43.

Despite only having hafl the amount of shots that the Steelers did, Coventry levelled on 12.18 when Shea Guthrie scored, assisted by Robert Farmer and Owen Fussey.

With Colt King out of the game for abusing an official, Coventry made the most of it and Shea Guthrie was able to score an unassisted goal to put the Blaze 2-1 up.

On 37.39, the Blaze had James Griffen in the sin bin serving a two minute ban for holding when Neil Clark tied the game with a powerplay goal.

The third period was tight with no penalties but on 53.19, Sheffield took a 3-2 win when Mike Ramsey was allowed space to score and condemn the Blaze to a defeat they did not really deserve.

On Sunday night, the sides meet at the Sky Dome.
