Blaze Boss On Latest Signing

Coventry Blaze boss Paul Thompson has been talking about his latest signing - Cardiff's Sylvain Deschatelets.

Speaking to his club's website, Thompson said: "Replacing everything Sylvain Cloutier brought to the club in one player, was always going to be nearly impossible but I do feel I've come very close with Deschatelets.

"I first had to be sure that I replaced Cloutier's points and I know that he's going to deliver on that front. He has a proven track record as a point scorer over several years and has consistently averaged a point a game throughout his professional career.

"I also really wanted a player who could make the big plays down low, under pressure and that is another of his strengths. He really is a big, strong play maker who will get his fair share of goals as well and I always thought he was a big threat when we played against him last season.

"I know he sees this as a fantastic fit and so do I. The other thing that attracted me to him is that he has won championships before and I want to maintain that winning mentality within the team next year. I really am very much looking forward to working with him
