Coventry Blaze were booed off the ice after they were beaten 5-2 tonight by the Newcastle Vipers in an Elite League fixture.

At the Sky Dome tonight, Coventry Blaze wore their away colours but it was the Vipers fans who were singing on 16.18 when Jason Tejchma scored for Newcastle, who had been guests of the Sky Blues for their 1-1 draw agaiinst Leicester City.

Three minutes into the second period and The Blaze were level thanks to a Chambers shot coming off the pads of the net minder and presenting Greg Owen with an empty net to aim.

On 32.16, Coventry took the lead when Jon Weaver scored from assists by Adam Calder and Luke Fulghum on the powerplay.

It was a power-play that saw Newcastle tie the game on 37.15 when Matus Petricko scored assisted by Griffiths and Domish.

This lifted Newcastle and they took control in the third period. On 46.53, Michael Berry scored assisted by Matic Kralj.

Then on 50.18, Michael Berry scored with a short handed goal assisted by Petricko.

Berry continued to be a big threat and on 54.32, he had his hat-trick, assisted by Campbell and Domish and Newcastle had an easy victory.

The goal started a walk out of Blaze fans, some of whom will be going to the 20-20 Hockey Fest in Sheffield tomorrow.

Each game will be played with two 20 minute periods of running clock with the clock stopping for the following reasons only, after a goal is scored, if any medical attention is required on the ice, if ice maintenance have to come on the ice for any reason.

The Blaze take on Nottingham Panthers at 2pm with the semi-finals at 4pm and 5pm and the final at 7pm.
