Blaze Beaten In Nottingham

Coventry Blaze went down to a 6-2 defeat at Nottingham Panthers tonight.

Due to an accident on the A52 which closed the road and delayed many fans, face off at the Nottingham Arena was put back until 7.25pm.

Paul Thompson's team needed only four minutes to delight the Blaze support who had made it into Block 1 when Adam Calder scored a powerplay goal, assisted by Weaver and Carlson on 4.03.

It was another power play goal which saw the Panthers or 'Team Hollywood' as they laughingly call themselves, level on 8.38. Kevin Bergin was the man who scored, assisted by Galbraith and McAslan.

On 11.09, it was the third power play goal of the evening which saw Sean McAslan scored to put the Panthers 2-1 up.

Worst was to follow as Cameron Mann made it 3-1 on 15.50 with a short handed goal.

The second period wihch saw the Blaze have 13 shots compared to the Panthers nine failed to bring any goals but 63 seconds into the thrid period, Coventry scored thanks to Greg Chambers firing home assisted by Henry.

Any hopes of Blaze getting anything from the match were dashed when Nottingham scored three goals in four minutes.

Sean McAslen scored unassisted on 56.17, One minute and twelve seconds later, Marc Levers finished off a move by Mann and Galbriath and in the final minute, Corey Neilson scored to make it a miserable night for the Blaze and their supporters.

Sunday night, gives the Blaze home advantage as they face the Panthers at the Sky Dome. Face off is at 6pm.
