Coventry Blaze Ice Hockey club went down to a 5-1 defeat tonight against Cardiff Devils.

In a game shown live on Sky Sports, Coventry took the lead on 5.30 with a powerplay goal from Luke Fulghum, assisted by Jon Weaver and Robert Farmer.

Cardiff levelled through Phil Hill on 09.04 and then took the lead through Craig Weller on 11.30.

Before the end of the first period, Brad Voth hit a fourth for the Champions elect.

Thanks to some good saves from Blaze net minder Brett Jaeger, that was the way it stayed until there was 47 seconds left and a move broke down and the puck came up to Max Birbraer who was left unmarked to beat Jaeger for a short handed goal.

The Blaze are at home on Saturday night to Hull Stingrays before travelling to Dundee Stars on Sunday.
