Blaze Beaten At Sheffield

Coventry Blaze Ice Hockey team were beaten 7-2 at Sheffield Steelers in a Challenge Cup Group B fixture. 

At Sheffield tonight, The Steelers took the lead on 2.49 when Colin Shields scored, assisted by Jeff Legue and Drew Fata.

On 18.08 and with The Blaze, who have already qualified for the Quarter-Finals, on the powerplay, Coventry equalised through Shea Guthrie, assisted by  Brad Leeb and Matt Beleskey.

Thirty two seconds into the second period, Sheffield were back in front when Colin Shields found the net, assisted by Legue and Tait.

On 30.04, the Blaze drew level thanks to a goal on the powerplay from Greg Leeb, assisted by Beleskey and Schutte.

With the Steelers on a five on three, they went back in front for the third time of the night through Shawn Limpright, assisted by Michel and Stephenson and less than a minute later, Jeff Legue made it 4-2 when he scored, assisted by Sestito and Fata.

On 46.32, there was a five goal for Sheffield when Stephenson scored from Goertzen and Sestito on the powerplay.

Coach Paul Thompson replaced net minder Peter Hirsch with Adam Goss but in the final minute, Sheffield's Man Of The Match Colin Shields got his hat trick assisted by Sestito and Legue on 59.06 and sixteen seconds later, Shawn Limpright scored, assisted by Goertzen and Sestito to condemn Coventry Blaze to a 7-2 defeat.
