Coventry Blaze lost their second consecutive game of the week when they were beaten 5-3 by Cardiff Devils in a Challenge Cup game tonight at the Sky Dome.

After losing 5-1 at Sheffield Steelers last night, Paul Thompson's team showed Cardiff no mercy early on.

Dan Carlsson who scored in last night's match, scored twice by the fourth minute and just before the end of the opening period, Carlyle Lewis made it 3-0.

The Coventry fans in blocks 1 and 2 of a three quarters full Sky Dome, according to John Dalziel, made more noise than the whole of the Ricoh Arena, but it was the Devils followers who had plenty to sing about in the second period.

Blaze had Carlyle Lewis was sent off for fighting and Likit Andersson scored for the visitors, who then scored three times thanks to a three minute hat-trick from Seskatchuan Mike Prpich to go 4-3 up.

Into the third period and Jason Silverthorn put the Devils further ahead on a 5v3 powerplay. Sylvain Deschalets had a good game but could not stop the 5-3 defeat.

Next Saturday, The Blaze travel to Hull in an Elite League fixture. Face Off is at 5.30pm. Then on Sunday, Nottingham Panthers visit the Skydome with face off at 6pm.
