Blaze Beat Hull On Penalties

Coventry Blaze Ice Hockey team needed over-time and penalties to beat Hull Stingrays 6-5 in a Challenge Cup Group B game.

At the Sky Dome tonight, Gerome Giudice opened the scoring on 7.33, assisted by Mike Schutte and Shea Guthrie and Giudice then fired a home a second on 12.35 with a powerplay goal.

Coventry had the first period but the second belonged to Hull. The visitors scored five times through a brace from Dominic Osman and goals from Jereme Tendler, Jason Silverthorn and Janis Ozolins before Guidice completed his hat-trick on 36.56, assisted by Mike Schutte.

In the third period, The Blaze scored their fourth through Brad Leeb on 42.21 with a powerplay goal, assisted by Greg Leeb and Shea Guthrie and then levelled through a powerplay goal from Mike Schutte on 43,40.

There were no more goals after that and the match went into over-time and then penalties before the Blaze emerged as 6-5 winners.
