Blaze Beat Edinburgh Again

Coventry Blaze made it a weekend double with a 6-2 victory over Edinburgh Capitals tonight.

Blaze had moved up to second in the Elite League table after last night's 6-3 win at Murrayfield.

Paul Thompson's side were a goal down on 1.12 when Martin Cingel fired home unassisted.

With Blaze on the power play on 2.22, they levelled through Sylvain Deschatelets who found the net assisted by Blake Forsyth and Jon Weaver.

But, just over a minute later, Edinburgh were back in front thanks to Joe Dustin firing home.

There were no more goals going into the second period which saw a fight break out on 24.24. Tom Watkins was given a ten minute penalty for misconduct with Dan Carlson and Matt Soderstrom joining him in the Sin Bin for roughing.

This offence was also committed by the Capitals Adam Stefishen who got another five minute penalty for fighting when he got back onto the ice two minutes later.





With Martin Cingel off the ice for Boarding, Blaze levelled the game on the thirty minute mark when Barrie Moore scored from a Jon Weaver assist.

After the goal, Mark Hurtubise was given a game ban for misconduct. Paul Thompson's side again attacked and on 39.30, Sylvain Deschatelets put Blaze in front for the first time in the match from an Adam Calder assist.

Calder, who scored twice last night, soon after was given ten minutes for misconduct.

As we went into the third period, Coventry increased their advantage when Carlyle Lewis hit the fourth from a Moore assist.

Three minutes from time, Adam Calder scored his 37th goal of the season which was assisted by Sylvain Deschatelets.

Then, on 59.18, an unassisted goal from Leigh Jamieson finished off a good night for the Blaze who keep the pressure on leaders Sheffield Steelers whom they travel to on Thursday night.

On Saturday, it is an away trip to Manchester Phoenix (Face off 7.15) before the home game against the Steelers on Sunday night at 6pm.

After that, Coventry have only six league matches remaining with away games at Basingstoke, Belfast and Newcastle and home games against Hull, Edinburgh and Belfast.
