Coventry Blaze Ice Hockey Club beat Cardiff Devills 5-4 tonight

A crowd of 2566 at the Sky Dome, saw Greg Owen fire the Blaze into a lead on 3-15 with a short-handed goal, assisted by Jason Robnson and Brad Zanon.

Cardiff levelled with a powerplay goal from Craig Weller thirteen minutes later and another powerplay goal from Stuart Macrae had The Devils ahead, fifty one seconds into the second period.

Coventry came back and levelled through Luke Fulghum on 22.43 with a powerplay goal, only for Cardiff to go back in front thanks to Jon Pelle goal on 24.55.

Coventry came back for a second time and hit the visitors  with two goals. Firstly, Dan Carlson found the net on 27.13, assisted by Jon Weaver and Arron Nell and then on 29.21, Greg Owen banged in his second of the match, assisted by Brad Cruickshank and Mat Soderstrom.

 

A Cardiff time out on 47.21 caused the Sky Dome to erupt before the Blaze fans were back on their feet cheering when Arron Nell scored a fifth on 50.42.

 

Craig Weller pulled a goal back with a minute and sixteen seconds of the match left but Coventry held on to record an excellent victory.
