Coventry Blaze are back at the top of the BMI Elite Ice Hockey League after a 5-4 home win against Cardiff Devils after penalty shots.

Paul Thompson's side were ahead in the first period through Danny Stewart.

Period Two saw Russell Crowley added a second 49 seconds in, but the vistors replied through Mike Garrow.

Cardiff equalised through Jason Silverthorn in the 40th minute and nine minutes later, the Welshman went in to the lead through Sylvain Deschatelets.

Blaze struck back with goals from Adam Calder and Russell Crowley but three minutes from time, Sylvain Deschatelets equalised to send the game into penalty shots.

As a crowd of 2,502 watched on, Adam Calder was the only player to score and give the Blaze the victory.

Blaze,then played away at Hull Stingrays and won 5-1. Crowley (2),Huppe, Calder and Stewart were the scorers.
