Coventry Blaze left Basingstoke tonight after a job well done. Paul Thompson's side had beat The Bisons 8-2 on their own rink to keep picking up wins which the coach had called for this week.

Carlyle Lewis had The Blaze ahead on 10.44 when he fired home after an assist by Greg Wood and Danny Stewart. Less than two minutes later, it was 2-0 when Dane Erik Hjalmarsson scored.

On 13.11, Lewis got involved in a fight with Jeremy Cornish and got five minutes for fighting then another five for unsportsmanlike conduct which was then extended into a game ban.

In to the second period and Russ Cowley made it three goals to nil on 24.02 but two minutes later, Shaun Thompson gave the home fans something to cheer when he netted from assists by Chambers and Read.

Blaze went up the other end and on 27.16, Hjalmarsson hit his second of the night.

4-1 going into the Third Period became 5-1, some 58 seconds in when hitman Adam Calder netted assisted by Ben O'Connor.

A powerplay on 47.33 allowed Mike Olynyk to hit a second for the Bison who then had to defend as the Blaze pushed forward.

Adam Calder smashed home goal number seven on 54.30 and in the final minute, Calder completed his hat-trick to complete a good night's work for the Blaze.

Tomorrow night, the Blaze take on Belfast Giants at the Sky Dome. Face off is at 6pm and The Blaze will be wearing one off pink shirts for the occasion.
