Bendall Wins On Points

Coventry Boxer Steve Bendall won on points 96-94 against Paul Smith.

The City supporter originally from Tile Hill,told Covsupport that he felt good going into the fight and worked hard against the Liverpudlian, putting him on the canvas twice in a British Middleweight fight at the NIA in Birmingham.

The fight went all the way to the end of the tenth round but Bendall triumphed to win on points and take the British title.

"A lot of people thought I was finished but I proved tonight that I am not. I would have retired if I had lost," said the Southpaw after the fight.

Curtis Woodhouse, who will be remembered as a footballer who played for York City,Sheffield United,Birmngham City,Huddersfield,Rotherham, Peterbrough,Hull City, Grimsby and still plays for Rushden & Diamonds, was a winner tonight when he knocked out Wayne Downing in less than a minute. It was the Drilfield's man's fourth stoppage in seven fights.
