Coventry City supporting Stevie Bendall and Dougie Walton both won their fights as boxing returned to the Coventry Sky Dome.

First up was Coventry's John Ruddock in a Super Middleweight contest against Walsall's Matty Hough.

The Walsall southpaw had Ruddock on the canvas in the second round and then finished the job with a right hander one minute and two seconds into the third round.

Next on the bill which saw promoter Pat Cowdell lose £45,000 in ticket sales, was Bedworth's Neil Tidman who took on Worksop's Simeon Cover.

Tidman, wearing shorts in Bedworth United's colours, was tidy with his punces in the opening round. The second round started but bizarrely, Cover started being violently sick, depsite not having taken any punches in the stomach. Those at ringside including Tony Sibson dived out of the way as Cover continued to produce vomit.

After 32 seconds, referee Terry O'Connor had to stop the contest with Cover in no state to continue and awarded Tidman the win.

Referee O'Connor said to Covsupport after the fight that he had never seen anything like it in an illustrious career. Tidman, who fights next week in Leicester, also said to Covsupport:"I couldn't believe it. "I'll never have an easier fight."

Shaun "Slasher" Walton from Telford then took on local boy Dougie Walton from Willenhall.

City supporting Dougie wore Sky Blue trunks and threw some lovely punches in the opening two rounds

Slasher got in a couple of slaps in the third round but had to soak up the pressure in round four of this six round bantamweight contest.

In the final round, the Telford based pugilist proved he could take a punch but quite rightly,it was Dougie Walton who was given a 60-54 points victory by referee Green.

The last professional fight involved Tile Hill's Stevie Bendall. The City supporter took on Poland's Andrzej Butowicz in an eight round contest.

Roared on by a good number of his supporters who sang some City songs which amused the watching John Sillett,Bendall got in some good shots as did his opponent.

Into the fifth round and both boxers were showing signs of eye damage with Bendall sustaining a cut on his right eye. Bendall just shaded the next two rounds and 32 seconds into the final round,a left over the top punch sent the Pole crashing to the floor. Referee Mr Connor stopped the fight and awarded Bendall the victory.

The main fight of the evening was for the British Middleweight Championship. Challenger Wayne Elcock from Shard End in Birmingham took on Howard Eastman from Battersea from London.

This was a twelve round fight which had originally be scheduled to take place in Aston, but was moved to Coventry.

Elcock who had beat Bendall for the right to face the Champion, attacked well to take the fight into the third.

This was a great round for the Brummie who landed a volley of shots which left Eastman looking tired. The fourth was equally as good for Elcock and by the eighth, the crowd were going mental as the Brummie was well ahead.

We reached the final round and Elcock kept his nerve with some great headshots. All the judges scored in favour of Wayne Elock who was crowned the Champion much to the delight of his large following.
