Bell Out For A Duck

Ian Bell was out for a duck at his home Edgbaston ground as England battled the rain and New Zealand in the second one day international.

The weather meant that the match was reduced to 29 overs per side and when play did get going at 3pm, Bell was caught by former Warwickshire bowler Danny Vettori off the bowling of Mills in the third ball of the match.

The other Warwickshire player in the England side - Tim Ambrose faired only one run better than Bell. Ambrose made one run before being caught by Taylor. The latest score is after twenty four overs England were embarrassingly 162 all out. New Zealand were set 160 to win in 23 overs under the Duckworth Lewis method. They batted stoutly but slowly and were 100-2 at the end of the 14th over., needing 60 from 49 balls. The light faded and in the 19th over, some six balls short of a full game and New Zealand needing seven runs to win at 127-2. England took the light from the umpires and walked off to ensure that the match ended with no result.
