Coventry Bees speedway team will hear at a meeting this afternoon if they and Peterborough Panthers will be allowed into the Elite League for this season.

The British Speedway Promoters Association have a General Council meeting in Rugby today to which all clubs have been invited to attend.

At the moment, reports say it is too close to call as to whether there will speedway at Brandon this season but Coventry and Peterborough do have the support of Sky Sports, who are the major backer.

"Hopefully common sense will prevail on both sides so we can both give a little and for the sake of speedway and its fans, agreement can be reached for a ten club Elite League," said Bees Co Promoter Allen Trump to the CT.

"We are mindful of our responsibility we have to our supporters and in three meetings with some 700 Coventry and Peterborough fans I have taken on board the support and concern of both sets of supporters.

"I am guardedly positive with hopefully the good of British Speedway and its fans being uppermost in everyone's thoughts."
