Coventry 57 Wolves 38.

For the final meeting at Brandon of the 2011 speedway season the Coventry Bees took to the track against the Wolverhampton Wolves in the 1st leg of the Midland Cup.

Taking to the track with a much changed side due to illness and injury, the Bees welcomed back former Bees Stuart Robson, Rory Schlein and Chris Harris, with both sides running with rider replacement.

From the off the Bees set about opening up a lead with the first 2 heats bringing home mazimum 5-1 advantages to provide an early 8 point lead, and whilst heats 3 &4 were shared the Bees then stretched further in front with a healthy 14 point lead after heat 6.

With the Wolves being over 10 points in arrears the tactical ride option was available to them, which they used in heats 7 & 9 to good effect, with the score after heat 9 standing at 34-25 to the Bees.

However with Chris Harris and Rory Schlein due onto the track at least 3 times in the final 6 heats confidence was high in the Bees camp and so it proved as the Bees slammed in 5 successive 4-2 heat wins before a drawn final heat 15 to give an on the night score of Coventry 57 Wolves 38.
The Bees scorers on the night were:

1. Rory Schlein (Guest) - 3 , 3 , 1 , 3 , 0 = 10
2. R/R for Przemyslaw Pawlicki - RF = 2' , SR = 2' , NK = 1 , CH = 3 = 8+2
3. Ryan Fisher - 2' , 2 , 1 , F/X , 1 = 6+1
4. Nicolai Klindt (Guest) - 1' , 3 , 1 , 2 , 1 = 8+1
5. Chris Harris (Guest) - 1' , 3 , 3 , 3 , 1 , 3 = 14+1
6. Aaron Summers - 2' , 0 , 1 , 3 = 6+1
7. Stuart Robson (Guest) - 3 , 2 , 2' , 3 , 3 = 13+1

Given the winter of 2010/11 issues that meant that the Bees very nearly didn't race in 2011, it was a good way to end the season and hopefully the Bees will be in the hunt for honours in 2012.
