Bees secure home semi-final

Following on from Coventry's impressive away win at Poole on Wednesday night they travelled to Ipswich for the return Elite League B match carrying a 35 point advantage towards the bonus.

With the Bees once again using rider replacement to cover for the injured Olly Allen they set about the task with an immediate 5-1 heat victory in the first heat.
The gap remained at the 4 ppoints advantage to the Bees until heats 7 and 8 when heat advantages to the Bees extended the lead to 10 points. That meant that in Heat 9 the Witches could use the dreaded double points scoring tactical ride, and for the 2nd night in succession the Bees conceded an 8-1 heat victory reducing their advantage to 3 points.

Heat 11 saw a Bees 5-1 take the pressure off and the margin established was maintained after that despite some close and entertaining racing, the Bees running out victors on the night by 51 points to 42, and the Elite League unbeaten record stretched to 15 matches.

Top scorers for the Bees were Chris 'Bomber' Harris on 13 +1 points with Rory Schlein scoring 13 points - each havign had 5 & 6 rides respectively.

The league table after last nights match is shown below, and with this result guaranteeing the Bees a home play-off semi-final the next match at Brandon will deteremine who will top the table and play the 4th placed team.

Monday 10th September current leaders Swindon visit Brandon for their final Elite League match of the season, in front of the Sky TV cameras. Start time will be 7.30pm and the meeting promises to be a very hard fought and close one - the Bees have only lost once at home in the league this year and that was to the Robins, again in front of the Sky cameras, in a tense last heat.
