Bees Meeting Postponed

Coventry Bees Elite League meeting against Birmingham this evening was postponed.

The Bees had been hoping to get on track for their Elite League opener following a major track overhaul since last weekend’s aborted Elite Riders’ Championship.

Material has been applied to the circuit in large quantities since Wednesday, but as had previously been stated, the work always required good fortune with the weather, and unfortunately there was heavy rain throughout Thursday afternoon and evening.

Work continued on Friday in an attempt to get the fixture on, but track staff had to finally admit defeat just over two hours before start-time.

The decision was taken at that stage in order to prevent as much inconvenience as possible for travelling supporters – bearing in mind this was a local derby fixture – rather than risk another late call-off.

Coventry Speedway said that it appreciates there has been much work done by stadium staff this week, and very much hope the forecast of an improvement in weather conditions this weekend enables a successful completion.
