Bees Into Bottom Two

Following on from the weekends Polish Grand Prix where former Bee Scott Nicholls managed to progress through to the semi-final stage, Chris Harris tailed off to finish with 5 points and Hans Andersen scored 11 after being edged out in his semi by Scott - the Bees riders took to the track last night at Peterborough for Hans first return since his mid-season move to Coventry.

In a match that both sides needed to gain a win in the battle to stay out of the bottom 2 places in the Elite league table, both teams set about the task well with the first 3 heats all being shared.

Whilst the Panthers managed a couple of heat advantages the match entered heat 8 delicately poised with Peterborough ahead by 4 points at 23-19.
A heat 8 4-2 to the Panthers stretched the lead slightly but the real damage was done in heat 10 where Chris Harris missed the gate and with Janniro unable to split the Panthers duo the 5-1 gave the Bees a 10 point mountain to climb.

Heat 11 saw Hans take a tactical ride where he would score double points if he finished ahead of a Peterborough rider, and this he duly did winning the heat giving the Bees a 6-3 advantage and the deficit was not down to 7 points.

The Aces managed to pack the middle places to keep their 7 point advantage in place and heat 14 became the pivotal race of the night, a Bees 5-1 would ensure a last heat decider. However the Panthers Duo controlled the race and their 5-1 sealed a win that saw Peterborough leapfrog the Bees in the table.

The Bees scorers are shown below and as can be clearly seen the middle order weren't able to support Hans and Chris as would have been hoped.

Next up for the Bees is a double header event on thursday evening where the 1st match on track sees the Bees take on Wolverhampton in what really is a must-win league match. this will be followed by the Knock-out cup semi-final leg against Poole.

Last nights Bees scores were:
Hans Andersen 3 1* 6^ 3 3 = 16+1
Simon Stead Rider Replacement
Chris Harris 3 3 2 1 3 1 = 13
Billy Janniro 0 0 0 0 0 = 0
Olly Allen 2 2 2 0 0 = 6
Filip Sitera 3 2 0 1* 0 = 6+1
Ben Barker 0 0 0 1 = 1
