Coventry Bees hammered Lakeside Hammers 60-31 tonight at Brandon

The Bees had Chris Harris back and raced Kennett, Roynon, Larsen, Summers and Szczepaniak and had rider replacement for Scott Nicholls in a meeting live on Sky Sports.

Fit again Chris Harris and Adam Roynon went for the Bees in the opening heat. Lakeside's number one Davey Watt took Roynon on the second bend and Harris moved into second with Nilsson coming in third for a 4-2 as Roynon's bike packed up and he did not complete the race.

Mikael Szczepaniak and Arron Summers on a track which was far from ideal, especially turn one, chased down Justin Sedgman but could not catch him and it finished in a 3-3.

Heat three saw Kennett and Larsen riding for the Bees who gated for a 5-1 win to put Coventry 10-8 up.

Chris Harris was the rider replacement in heat four and went with Szcsepaniak against former Bees rider Stuart Robson. Again, the Bees gated for a 5-1 with Robson chasing down the Pole as Harris led.

Mear's bike packed up and on the last lap, Robson had nowhere to go up against Szczepaniak  and hit the fence. Robson got up as news that the Pole was disaqualified and Coventry won the heat 3-2 to lead 13-10.

Robson was put in an ambulance and taken to Walsgrave Hospital before heat five which had Larsen and Kennett riding for Coventry could start. Again they gated for a 5-1 chased by Davey Watt and held on to win.

The meeting was delayed for repairs to the track. At 8.31pm. heat six finally got underway with Roynon and Harris riding. Again, they gated for a 5-1 on a track which did not appear any better and Roynon took the win for a 5-1 to put the Bees 23-12 up.

Peter Karlson took the tactical ride for The Hammers against Summers and Larsen. Again, the Bees were away first and Summers won for a 5-1.

Heat eight saw Roynon and Szcsepaniak ride. Roynon got through on the first corner ahead of Sedgman and held on to win for a 4-2 to Coventry which put them 32-15 ahead at the halfway point.

Kennett and Larsen rode in heat nine. Sedgmen came in to split the Bees and it finished 4-2 with Kennett taking the heat win.

Heat ten saw a new bike for Peter Karlson up against Harris and Roynon who went off gates one and three. The experienced Swede got to the front and won ahead of Harris and Roynon.

The Bees were 39-20 up, so Watt took the tactical ride in heat eleven against Summers and Szczepaniak who went down on the first lap. The Pole was disqualified.  In the re-run, Arron Summer came round into the lead and then held on to deservedly win for a 3-5.

Kennett and Szcsepaniak went in heat twelve. Karlson started well ahead of Kennett who tried everything to get past him. However, he could not and it was a 3-3 which saw the Bees 45-28 up.

Bees had now won the meeting and Kennett replaced Nicholls with Sdegman replacing Robson along with Harris and Watt, who got to the front.

Watt's bike packed up due to a problem with a chain with a lap to go and the Bees rode to a 5-1 with Harris winning.

Larsen and Summers went in heat 14 and they gated well and won with ease for a 5-1 to see Coventry 55-30 up going into the final heat.

Blayne Scroggins felt that the win was a confidence boost and said that Bees would have a good push for the end of the season before the final heat which saw reserve Summers (9pts) and Harris (12pts) against Karlson and Watt.

The Bees duo got away well and Harris won in superb style followed by Summers to give the Bees a 60-31 victory.
