In front of a big Brandon crowd the Coventry Bees took to the track for the final meeting of their season against the Lakeside Hammers in the second leg of the Craven Shield final.

The Bees began the meeting with a 4 point lead from the 1st leg at Purfleet, and began tonights meeting in fine style with number 1 rider Hans Andersen heading home former Bee Andreas Jonsson for a Bees 4-2 heat win.
The following 3 heats saw maximum 5-1 heat advantages to the Bees to open up an on the night 19-5 lead, leaving the Hammers 19 points adrift.
Thereafter the Hammers failed to produce the expected fightback and the Bees controlled the meeting.

On the night for the visitors only Andreas Jonsson provided any resistance to the Bees onslaught by scoring 18 of the Hammers points on the night, as the Bees romped to victory by 58 points to 35.

Whilst Hans Andersen recorded a 5 ride paid maximum, the star of the night was reserve Ben Barker scoring an unbeaten 4 ride 12 point maximum.

The victory ensured that for the 4th consecutive season the Coventry Bees have secured a major speedway title, with team manager Peter Oakes praising the impact that the introduction of Hans to the team has had

"We've looked a different team since Hans Andersen came in, he's been awesome at the top end, and it was an absolutely magnificent performance by Ben Barker too. But it was about all seven riders, and a good way to finish off for us."

One can only hope that next season proves to be even more fruitful for the Bees in the league given how the team have ridden in the latter part of the season.

The Bees rider score chart for this final meeting were as follows:
