Coventry Bees edged nearer a play-off spot with a 47-43 home victory against Wolves tonight at Brandon.

Bees co-boss Peter Oakes said to the Coventry Bees website: "It's a very good result for us, and one you'd have got long odds on at one stage. We always aim for three points from home meetings, but two was a realistic target and that makes it even harder for Peterborough to overhaul us.

"Chris was tremendous in the closing stages, winning his last three rides and twice getting the better of Peter Karlsson and Fredrik Lindgren, and they were big rides at the crucial time.

"Ben was simply sensational once again, and you just can't speak too glowingly of his performances for us."

COVENTRY 47: Ben Barker 14+3, Chris Harris 12, Olly Allen 8+1, Edward Kennett 6+3, Rory Schlein 6, Ricky Wells 1, Filip Sitera 0.

WOLVES 43: Fredrik Lindgren 13, Peter Karlsson 8+1, Nicolai Klindt 7+2, Tai Woffinden 5+1, Adam Skornicki 5, Ty Proctor 3, Chris Kerr 2.

On Monday, the Bees are at home to Eastbourne.
