Coventry Bees Speedway team beat Eastbourne Eagles in an Elite League meeting tonight.

At Brandon tonight, Rory Schelin, replacing the injured Emil Sayfutdinov gated first but Pedersen got past him to win the first heat but with Larsen coming third, the opening heat finished 3-3.

Heat Two saw new signing Peter Kildemand get his first win for the Bees and with Nick Morris getting a point, Coventry led 7-5.

Heat Three saw Cameron Woodward fall but get back on his bike. Prezy Pawlicki worked hard and beat Gustafsson to give the Bees another 4-2 win.

It was raining in parts of Coventry but not at Brandon as Heat Four with Kennett and Kildemand riding for The Bees started. Coventry gated well and were on a 5-1 from the start. Kennett won it and the Dane was second to put The Bees 16-8 up.

The rain hit Brandon as Pawlicki and Fisher lined up for Heat Five. Former Bees rider Lewis Bridger, who didn't think the Bees would be running this season so he moved to Eastbourne, took the lead but Pawlick pulled off a great move to get second as Eastbourne who are second in the table won 4-2.

Schlein and Larsen rode for Coventry in Heat Six. Schlein got to the front but Larsen lost his bike and the heat was stopped. Larsen was excluded but Schelin went straight into the lead. Then third placed Timo Lahti came off his bike and the race was awarded to Schelin.

Seven points ahead, Kennett and Morris rode for the Bees in Heat Seven.  Ed Kennett flew out of Gate 2 but Gustafsson and Woodward followed him round and the Bees skipper won for a 3-3 and the Bees 24-17 up.

Larsen and Kildebrand rode in Heat Eight and this was a close race behind Reserve Lukas Dryml who won the heat. Larsen got a second with Kildemand in third for a 3-3.

Heat nine saw Pawlicki and Fisher ride. Kylamkorpi pulled out and when Pawlicki tried to get round Fisher, he ended up in the fence and the race was stopped and a 3-2 awarded to Eastbourne.

The Pole walked away thanks to the air fence and Coventry went into Heat Ten leading 29-23.

Rory Sclein and Kenni Larsen went for Coventry. Larsen got into the lead whilst Schlein chased down Gustafsson and the heat finished in a 4-2 for Coventry.

In Heat eleven and the rain stopping over Brandon, Kennett and Morris against Dryml replacing Bridger and Pedersen. Dryml took the lead but Kennett took him on the third lap and with youngster Morris making a great move to give the Bees a 4-2 and a ten point lead.

Drmyl had a tactical ride for The Eagles in Heat Twelve. Fisher and Kildemand went for The Bees. Dryml took the lead as Fisher chased him. A photo finish was required for third place and it was Kildemand meaning Eastbourne won the Heat 6-3.

Schlein and Kennett went in Heat Thirteen, Schlein and Pedersen went down on the first bend after hitting a hump. Pedersen was first up. Coventry resident Schlein who now rides for Belle Vue did get up but needed a car to help him get back to the pits.

The rain started again and the Heat restarted with Kennett, the only Bees rider against Dryml in his sixth heat and Pedersen. Kennett got to the lead on the first bend with the door left wide open. Kennett took the chequered flag for a 3-3 and see the Bees 43-36 up.

Eastbourne now needed two 5-1's to win and go back to the top of the Elite League table. Lukas Dryml rode again in Heat Fourteen against Morris and the 19 year old Pawlicki.

Nick Morris got in trouble early on but regained his composure to get third after Pawlicki just missed out on beating Dryml by inches.

The 3-3 result made it 46-39 to the Bees. The rain got heavier and the meeting was abandoned but the result stood.

Coventry are now fifth in the Elite League table with 17 points from 12 meetings.
