Coventry Bees were back in action tonight at Somerset.

Legal demands meant that the Bees were forced to race under the title of Elite League Select and they fielded the following riders; Bjarne Pedersen, Richard Sweetman, Ty Proctor, Jason Doyle, Edward Kennett, Josh Auty and Kyle Hughes, against a Somerset side which included former Bees rider Chris Harris who is riding for Belle Vue in the new season.

Bjarne Pedersen and Richard Sweetman got the Select off to a flyer with a 5-1 against Harris in heat one and Auty and Hughes repeated the feat in the second heat.

The home side won the third heat 5-1 before the Select netted a 42 in heat four.

Heats five & six finished 3-3 before Somerset won the next two heats 4-2.

Josh Auty had fallen in heat nine, which saw a 5-1 defeat for the Select and was withdrawn. He had got to his feet but his bike was in a far worse state.

The Select won heat ten to make it 30-30 and then netted a 5-1 in the neat heat to go into the lead once more.

Somerset took Heat 12 4-2 and the next two heats finished 3-3, giving the Select a two point lead going into the final heat.

Pedersen and Sweetman rode well in the final heat to earn a 3-3 and ensure that the Elite League Select had 46-44 victory.
