Beaton Goes Out

Coventry's last representative in the Ladbrokes. com 2010 World Darts Championship - Steve Beaton went out of the tournamment with a 4-1 defeat to Andy Hamilton.

Against Andy Hamilton at the Alexander Palace in London this afternoon, the Bronzed Adonis, currently living in Wellesbourne, lost the opening leg of the first set. He won the next one only for The Hammer to take the third leg. Double nine gave Beaton the fourth leg  but with having failed on a 141 check-out. Hamilton won the fifth leg to take the first set.

Beaton, was well supported through out the match and threw his sixth 140 of the tournament to start off the second set. His next three arrows produced a 180. Setting himself up with 32 left, Beaton took the first leg. That was followed by the second leg and the third and he levelled the match.

The third set saw Hamilton finish on double ten for the first leg and Beaton chip out on 41 to make it 1-1. Both darters each won the next leg before Beaton started with a 180 in the deciding fifth leg. Hamilton did the same and Beaton added another before Hamilton checked out on 41 to take a two sets to one lead.

Beaton won the opening leg of the third set when Hamilton failed on double sixteen. The Stoke based darter came back winning the next three legs to leave himself only one set away from a place in the third round against James Wade or Michael Gerwin.

Beaton was determined to make Hamilton fight fot it and Double Top gave Beaton the first leg and double nine saw him win the second,  Hamilton, who missed out on a nine darter took the third leg and the fourth.

Playing for the match. both players started with a ton. Hamitlon hit 174 whilst Beaton scored only sixty. A 180 had the match truly in Hamilton's favour and Hamilton finished on double sixteen to win the match.
