Beaton Feels The Power

Steve Beaton found Phil 'The Power' Taylor just too hot to handle as he was swept aside 13 legs to 4 in the second round of StanJames.com World Matchplay Championships at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool, last night.

The popular 46-year-old former WDF world champion from Coventry, who comes out to the stage using nicknames such as The Bronzed Adonis', 'Magnum P.I.' and 'The housewives choice', led 2-0 but the world number one Stoke darter began his usual demolition display, hitting eight legs in a row before wrapping up a comfortable victory.

Beaton beat Geordie-born Australian Paul Nicholson 10-3 in round one before meeting Taylor.
