Wade needed only fifteen darts to take the first leg of the opening set, twelve for the second and double top in the third gave him the lead..

Beaton, won the first leg of the second set but Wade used seventeen darts to take the second leg. Beaton came back to take the third leg and fourth leg to win the set and level the match.

Wade finished on double five to win the first leg of the third set and a 180 in the next helped him to a second leg victory as did his fifth 180, which won him the third leg and gave him the set.

Again, Beaton needed to do something and hit his first 180 on his way to winning the first leg. Double sixteen gave him the second leg and a double six saw Beaton win the leg and level once again at 2-2.

Wade took the first leg of the fifth set but a great finish from Beaton on double eighteen levelled it. Wade checked out on 43 in the third leg. Double nine gave Beaton the fourth leg but Wade checked out on 130 in twelve darts to take the fifth set and a 3-2 lead.

Beaton hit double ten at the fifth attempt to win the first leg of the sixth set but Wade took the second with double top..It was double tops that served Wade well in the third leg as he hit two of them to check out on 100 and put himself needing only one leg to win the match and face  Vincent Van de Voort, who beat Dean Whinstanley, in the Third Round

However, a brilliant twelve darter pulled back Beaton. But he bust on 122 in the fifth leg and Wade finished on double top to take the win and the match.
