Another Busy Saturday

Another busy Saturday saw the Sky Blues over-taken by Bristol City at the top of the table although,Watford will go top if they beat Southampton tomorrow.

In the Championship games played today, former Sky Blue Andy Morrell hit a last minute equaliser for Blackpool in a 2-2 draw at Burnley.

Barnsley beat Scunthorpe,Preston beat bottom side Sheffield Wednesday,Sheffield United beat Wolves 3-1 and West Brom beat Ipswich 4-0 with the games at Colchester,Hull.Plymouth all drawn as was Gary Megson's first game in charge for Leicester against QPR.

Locally, Nuneaton Borough drew 2-2 with Gainsborough Trinity at Liberty Way in a Conference North fixture.

It was FA Cup First Qualifying Round today and Bedworth are through after a 2-1 home win over Eastwood Town. Ben Porter and Lee Darliason scored for Martin Sockett's side.

Stratford Town live to fight another day with a 0-0 draw at Hednesford but all the rest of our teams were beaten.

Rugby Town lost 3-2 at Glapwell. Atherstone Town lost 4-1 at Rushall and , Leamngton went out to a 2-0 defeat at Stourbridge.

In the Midland Alliance, Coventry Sphinx had a great result winning 1-0 at Oldbury United. Jerome Murdock scored the only goal of the game in the first half for Paul Charnley's side. Racing Club Warwick won 4-3 at Studley with a brace from Matt Blair, a Lee Knight own goal and Mark Taylor hitting the winner with five minutes left.

In the Midland Combination Premier Division Massey Ferguson won 3-1 at Brereton with a pair from Hollis and one from Dodds. A Claridge penalty for Southam was cancelled out with a late goal at Brocton.

Nuneaton Griff lost 3-1 at Highgate and Coventry Copsewood lost 2-0 at Pilkington.

In Midland Combination Division One, Stockingford drew 2-2 at West Midlands Police. Two Divisions down, Kenilworth Town KH beat Henley Forest 2-0 and in the Midland Combination Challenge Bowl Round 1 First Leg Coventry Sphinx Reserves beat Rothwell 3-2.
