141 For Bell

Warwickshire batsman Ian Bell made 141 for England in their first innings of the second test against South Africa in Durban.


England resumed on 386-5 with Bell 55 not out and the batsman born in Walsgrave Hospital in Coventry, hit one six and ten fours from 227 balls before he was caught off the bowling of former Warwickshire bowler Dale Steyn.

The other Warwickshire batsman Jon Trott had made 18 in an England innings which ended when they declared on 575-9.

South Africa went into bat for their second innings and were ripped apart. By the time, bad light ended the day early, they were floundering on 76-6 with Broad and Swann both taking three wickets apiece.

Tomorrow is the final day and South Africa resume 156 runs behind.
