Turning The Scoreboard End Into The Singing End

Last updated : 26 October 2008 By DJ Sky Blue
I had the misfortune of listening to radio Derby's commentary yesterday and
they weren't too complimentary about our souless and passionless stadium. They went as far as saying it was welcoming when it should be intimidating.

Which leads me to the conclusion that if the club arent going to do
anything to improve the atmosphere, it is down to the fans and not the
whining pillox who still believe we are a massive club who should be
battering everyone we play and have a divine right to be in the premiership

What i would like to try is through the various websites is to organise a
campaign to turn the scoreboard into the vocal area in the Ricoh, its a lot
better than it was but is lacking in numbers.

The club tried it with the experiment behind the goal but as we all know
that went tits up with all the restrictions placed on the purchase of
tickets.

Derby have their corner as do Sunderland with their concession corner even
the 6 fingered cousins down the m69 amass by the away fans and these are
the areas that generate the vocal support in those grounds.

Going back to the 70s/80s at Old Trafford, it was the Paddock not the
Stretford End that was the home of the core of the red army.

My suggestion is that with a combined effort under a banner
"We're the scoreboard come join us over here" (any other
suggestions gratefully accepted) , we try to transform the atmosphere on matchdays.getting a few hundred vocal supporters in one place may help performances on the pitch and our younger fans may even learn a few more songs from the old timers of which I include myself in that ilk.
