The Sky Blue Trust- What They Are All About

THE SKY BLUE TRUST – WHAT WE’RE ABOUT….

City fans who are somewhat sceptical of joining the Trust usually want answers to the same sort of questions i.e. “What’s the Trust all about then?” or “What will I get for my money?” and “ How can the Trust change things at CCFC?”.

All very valid questions. So, without repeating our list of achievements thus far which has been done before in various publications, we will attempt to clarify some of these issues.

Firstly, the main idea behind any Supporters Trust is that should our worst fears be realised and the Club goes into administration or is declared bankrupt, a Trust has the legal mechanisms in place to come in and –hopefully- save the day.

In times of extreme crisis such as described, fans will want to do all they can to help the situation. A Supporters Trust can take the lead or even work alongside any consortium preparing a takeover bid. Trusts already control various clubs in the UK such as Rotherham & Exeter.

The Sky Blue Trust – at this present time- may be able to bring some influence to bear on matters at the Football Club, but only by working in conjunction with the management there. The Football Club is after all a limited company, and as such, can only allow a certain level of outside interference.

The Trust is committed to help CCFC in both financial and practical ways, many of which can and will benefit all supporters. Examples of this are the Green Travel Plan (organised transport to & from the Arena), new projects at the Arena site, and sponsorship of the Academy (helping to bring on potential new young players for the team).

The Trust also gives fans the opportunity to have a voice direct to the City Board through the regular meetings that we have with Club officials. To this end, we are hopeful of having some input soon into the choice of next Coventry City manager. We view this as being a major breakthrough in the improving relationships between the Club and its’ fans.

The Sky Blue Trust therefore urges all supporters who have the Club’s welfare at heart to come and join us. It costs only five pounds and all money raised goes towards projects connected with the Club that we all love.
