Ricoh Arena Train Station May Never Happen

There are growing concerns that plans for a train station at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry as part of the NUCKLE scheme could be axed under Government cuts.

As part of its many cuts, the new Government is cutting the budget to the Department of Transport by at least a third and this has led some including some councillors according to the CT, to fear that the scheme for a line to serve Coventry Station, the Ricoh Arena, Nuneaton, Kenilworth and Leamington could be shelved.

The CT is reporting that Coventry City Council, who are major players in the NUCKLE plan, have been told that 'any approval for major schemes has ow been suspended until the government's spending review in October at the earliest.'

City supporting councillor Ann Lucas (Lab) is one person urging the new government to ensure that the platforms at Coventry Station and the station at the Ricoh rena are finally built.
