Craig Reid scored his sixteenth goal of the season to keep the Sky Blues hopes of winning the FA Premier League South alive thanks to a 1-0 win at Charlton Athletic.

Having seen his side beaten 6-0 at Chelsea seven days ago, City Reserve team boss Alan Cork made a number of changes with Matt Heath returning at centre half, partnering fit again Stuart Wall at the back. Liam Davis had not recovered from the heavy tackle he received last Monday and was replaced by Paul McCrink with Academy starlet Ange Lourougnon added to the attack in place of Vijay Sidhu.

For Charlton boss Glyn Snodin, this was his last game in charge after agreeing a move to Southampton. With his replacement Mark Robson helping him in the dug-out,Snodin named a side which included Francis Jeffers and Dennis Rommedahl.

At a cold, empty Valley,Snodin's side were soon on the attack winning two early corners.

Dennis Rommedahl was a big threat early on. He won a 22nd minute corner and seconds later, delivered a long ball onto the head of Osei Sankofa who nodded down forcing the highly capable Tuffey to push the ball round for a corner.

Matt Heath and Craig Reid both had chances before City won a corner on the stroke of half-time.

With Hull City 's Peter Taylor and England international Darren Bent amongst a crowd of 150, Craig Reid had a 47th minute left footed shot saved by Stephan Anderson.
Defending in numbers and spraying the ball round nicely, this was a gutsy performance from the Sky Blues and for the vast majority of the second half, they were dictating the play.
Chances were not plentiful with one goal was always going to decide this fifth versus third battle in it and the winner came the way of Alan Cork's side in the 65th minute.
Craig Reid broke down the left, cut inside and was able to beat Anderson on his near post with a low drive, much to the delight of a healthy Sky Blues support.

Jeffers and Rommedahl continued to be marked out of the game as every City player put in an excellent performance to ensure a fourth away victory continued the quest for silverware.
