Coventry MP's Bob Ainsworth and Jim Cunningham have written to Transport Minister Kim Howells demanding a meeting about the campaign for a railway station at the new Arena.

The Strategic Rail Authority has continually rejected plans for a station, the money for which is in the City Council's budget, but said that the line will be reopened.

The need for a train station has cross party support from City Councillors,
local residents and City supporters.

The MP's have isssued a joint statement saying: "We want to try to ensure different forms of transport are available to and from the Arena, contributing to the regeneration success we know it will be."
