Longford Residents Railroaded In To Accepting Travel Plan

Residents of Longford feel they have been railroaded into accepting the Green Travel Plan adopted by Arena Coventry Limited and the other agencies involved.

The Travel Plan which will affect supporters and residents alike, means that an exclusion zone will be enforced on match days. The zone is believed to be around 2.5 miles in circumference or up to twenty minutes walk away and will mean that anyone illegally parking in this area faces a £60 fine.

It will come into operation two hours before kick off and one hour afterwards. But there is no news on whether this will be only a football related issue or if it will apply to other events that the Arena may stage in the future.

The Exclusion Zone scheme will be paid for out of Council Tax payers money and will cost around a quarter of a million pounds to implemnt, with over 12,000 households affected.

One resident told Covsupport: "What choice do we have? "This scheme is going to be brought in whether we want it or not. "If this is the only workable option they can come up with, then we'll reluctantly have to accept it."
