Coventry Fans Urged To Boycott Arena Sponsor

Coventry City supporters were today asked not to mention the word Jaguar when refering to the new Arena, following the way it's Coventry based workers have been treated by the Ford owned company.

The boycott of the name of Arena Coventry sponsors comes about after Coventry based people lost their jobs due to cuts made by the company which is also withdrawing it's FI motor racing team at the end of the current season.

Although the Browns Lane plant will still be open and run by a skeleton staff, 1,100 Coventry based people will lose their jobs or face having to travel to Castle Bromwich which was unaffected by the cuts.

One City supporter said: "If that is the way they treat people in this city then we don't want them as sponsors. "I hope the people of Coventry will support this non-use of the name and show those responsible for the job losses that this is unacceptable. "

Arena Coventry have refused to say whether any negotiations to alter the record breaking- sponsorship deal are in place.
