More than 60,000 people lost their lives and five million people are now homeless after an earthquake struck in Sichuan in the south west of China on May 12 and world-wide appeals have begun to help survivors re-build their lives and communities.

The Sky Blues have announced that the event on Sunday, July 27, will provide funds for charities to provide aid to victims of the disaster. The event is being organised to mark their 125th birthday.

Local bands have been lined up to appear on stage in the Jaguar Exhibition Hall where there will also be plenty of entertainment, bouncy castles and refreshments for all the family.

Former heroes from the club's footballing history along with members of Chris Coleman's first-team squad will be signing autographs and having their photographs taken with fans at the event which will run from 2pm to 9pm.

Ray Ranson, chairman of Coventry City, said the club wanted to hold an event to say thank-you to its fans for their support over the last 125 years as well as raise money for a worthwhile cause.

"We felt the club's birthday celebrations would be an ideal way to raise money to help charities provide emergency relief and reconstruction work to help these people try to re-build their lives and homes," he said.

"The club is proud to have reached their 125th anniversary and we would like as many of the club's supporters to join us in our celebrations."
