The Isle Of Capri have applied to Coventry Licensing Magistrates to ope the biggest casino they possibly can under the current Gambling Act laws.

The American company want to build at a site right by the new Arena stadium and hope it will become a super casino if the law is changed. Birmingham and Wolverhampton have also applied to host super casinos and with the rulling of one super casino per region, either of the aformentioned cities are likely to be selected ahead of the Isle of Capril bid.

Local residents are not happy with the plans and one told Covsupport: "The last thing we want is something that will bring more crime to our community and I believe that a casino would do this.

"It's bad enough have the likes of Cardiff,Leeds and Millwall hooligans roaming round our streets and now we are being faced with having problems such as prostitution, muggings and break-ins from people funding gambling habits on our door step.

"As this company planning to spend big money to build this casino which we don't need as there are others in the city that don't appear over-subscribed, I hope,if it does go ahead, they will use some of it to pay for extra policing."
