City have moved their Academy into the new Alan Higgs centre on Allard Way which will be open to the public from October 25th.

As well as facilties for City U16's & U18's, the centre includes a fitness suite, a crèche, sports halls, all-weather hard courts, an aerobics studio and a function room with full kitchen.

There are a number of pitches at the site, some three miles from town in between the London and Binley Road, but they will not be ready for Academy use until next season.

Coventry City Ladies are amongst a number of multi sport users who have their name down to use the facility.

Academy Director Steve Ogrizovic told the CET: "Academies are becoming increasingly important to all football clubs and it is vital that we have the best facilities to attract the young players and their parents.
"We are always trying to build on our reputation in the game and the new facilities will help us be even more attractive in what is already a very competitive environment. "This will enable us to give the best possible platform to help young players learn their skills and reach their potential."

Former Sky Blue David Speedie is still playing albeit in charity matches. One included turning out along with Gary Gillespie for Northern Alliance side Crook Town a match which raised £2000 for cancer research. Speedie lives in Doncaster and deals in Spanish properties.
