Coventry City picked up their second away league win of the season with a 2-0 win at Port Vale. ‎

On a frosty morning, a portion of the Sky Blue Army set off ‎for The Potteries to see the Sky Blues take on Port Vale.

Steven Pressley, who has used 47 players so far in 2014, sixteen of whom have been on loan,  made only one change bring back Arron Martin.

Port Vale, starting with former City loanee Carl Dickenson and former City winger Mark Marshall, were fired up by Robert Page, a former City defender who left after a spat with Michael Doyle and they were straight on the attack, causing the City defence problems.

That included a third minute corner which Vesili fired into the side netting‎

Josh McQuoid fired really wide as Matt Pennington worked to keep Marshall on the left quiet.

In eleventh minute, Fleck won a corner and Vale then won one at the Signal FM Stand end where the 708 strong City support which included supporters from Kent, London, Hampshire to name but a few places, were accommodated in a stadium that has vastly improved over the years, thanks to the efforts of their Coventry hailing Chairman and others including their supporters trust.

Brown went down trying to claim a penalty and should have been carded for simulation and in the 18th minute, Marshall ‎appealed for a penalty following a Reda Johnson tackle after the former Barnet man had swapped wings.

Brown fired over in the 23rd minute ‎against a City side who were playing every thing through Adam Barton.

Daniel went down appealing for a 32nd minute penalty which was only a corner that Allsop saved diving to his left to push away a Robertson header.

‎In the 39th minute, City had a free kick cleared to Marshall who was taken out by Josh McQuoid and the loanee from Bournemouth, was booked .

Pennington, watched by a number of his family,  did well to help in a 42nd minute move which saw Fleck shoot at former City trialist Chris Neal.

Pressley sent Ryan Haynes on for the second half, replacing Danny Swanson for a City side which had Gary Madine, now playing up front on his own due to McQuoid dropping deeper back to midfield, drive wide in the 50th minute.

With the City support launching into a chorus of "Twist N Shout" , City attacked down the right and there was Reda Johnson at the far post to head home a 57th minute Pennington cross.
Page made two changes bringing on Alex Nimely to "City Reject" chants from the Coventry support before Jack Finch was sent on for Josh McQuoid.

Chris Birchall was the last former City player to come on with fifteen minutes left replacing the injured McGivern.

Vale started to control the midfield, looking for a goal to get back in the game. H‎owever, City were not to be denied their first win at Vale Park since 1960 and in the 94th minute Gary Madine slotted home unmarked from a couple of yards out, after an O'Brien shot had been parried, for a 2-0 win.
