Coventry City completed their pre-season tour with a 1-1 draw at Hercules Amelo.

An early start for the final game of this three match German\Dutch tour saw us heading via Den Haag and Amelo to Tubbergen for a game against Dutch Eeredivisie side Heracles Amelo.

Again, the Sportpark De Grote Moat in Tubbergen, was not the easiest of venues to find but there were around thirty City supporters who made the journey.

It had been a cloudy day here in Tubbergen but inside the opening 133 seconds, City, who had Adam Barton and Leon Clarke back, had lifted the mood of the supporters when they were awarded a free kick for a foul on Frank Moussa.

It was pretty central and about twenty yards out, so up stepped Carl Baker and he hit a powerful shot which went low past the keeper on his left.

Another City free kick was cleared. The ball fell to Moussa who played in Baker for a shot on the turn which was deflected away.

With the Spanish trialist playing in defence for City and having a performance which did not scream "Sign Me Up" , Arron Phillips made some good runs in midfield and curled a shot wide in the eighth minute.

Duarte fired at Murphy, who again easily dealt with another shot which came in straight after.

With the sun now shining brightly, Murphy dealt with a corner and Tennane went down claiming a penalty which the referee completely ignored along with a handball in the Heracles next attack.

In the 19th minute, City, playing in their yellow away kit, had Baker sent through on the left but the City skipper got the ball on his right foot and curled over the bar.

With Linssen who was Heracles Man Of The Match for me, starting to cause problems for the defence which was well led by Jordan Clarke and Jordan Willis, Heracles pulled level in the 33rd minutes.

A shot came in and hit Murphy's left hand post, the ball rebounded to Jaroslav Navratil, who was first to the loose ball and fired past Murphy from inside the area.

Duarte curled high and wide. City went up the other end and Blair Adams crossed from the left and Moussa came in with a diving header which was saved by the keeper.

Blair Adams won a free kick on the edge of the area on the left which sailed over Leon Clarke and out for a goal kick to see City go in at the break level.

There has been a massive bang just before the teams came out for the second half, which shook the supporters which looked to be around the 700 mark.

Steven Pressley had made changes and sent on Haynes, Garner, Lobjoit and the French Trialist who still cannot be announced.

Both sides started the second half with corners but in the 54th minute, City were grateful to Joe Murphy who made a tremendous save diving to his left to push away for a corner.

In the 59th minute, Murphy saved with his left foot from Heracles substitute Kangaskoikka.

That was the last from the City keeper who was one of four changes made in the 61st minute by the City management.

Five minutes later and Linssen was through. He rounded Burge but Blair Adams was there to clear off the line.

The home side continued to look the more likely to score with a Linssen long ranger sailing over, Kangaskoikka getting only for Burge to stand strong and block and Rissen over-hitting a 74th minute corner.

City did put one good move of thirteen passes together before losing the ball, but with the French trialist almost invisible, they never looked like scoring and when Kangakoikka headed over from a corner, a draw was the only outcome.
