Former Coventry City midfielder Dennis Wise has walked out of Leeds United to become Director Of Football at Newcastle United.

Wise was signed by Micky Adams and made his debut against Derby on Jan 21 2006. He stayed at the Ricoh Arena for the rest of the season before going on to manage Swindon Town.

He took the Robins to the top of League Two and then was made manager of Leeds. He could do nothing to prevent the Elland Road side being relegated into League One at the end of last season.

This year, he had managed Leeds into a play-off spot despite a fifteen points handicap but the decision to work with Kevin Keegan has come as a shock.

Former City midfielder Youseff Safri played for Morocco in a 2-0 defeat to Ghana in the African Cup of Nations. Ghana topped the group and will stay in their capital city Accra.
