Blues boss Steve Bruce has something of a crisis amongst his strikers after Clinton Morrison picked up a damaged cartilage during the Republic Of Ireland's 0-0 draw with France on Saturday. With Mikael Forssell also a long term injury, Bruce's only option are Dwight Yorke and Emille Heskey up front.
Bruce has admitted that "If this situation had arised a fortnight ago I would have kept Stern John." when Forssell was injured and may be tempted to resign the striker currently on World Cup duty with Trinidad & Tobago.
John has only scored once since he joined the Sky Blues and last week sparked a row with FIFA following comments made on the Trinidad FA website that Peter Reid had told him to quit playing international football.
