Coventry City MD Tim Fisher has said the club have not given up hope of bringing in new players.
Speaking to BBC Coventry & Warwickshire, Mr Fisher said: “We haven’t given up. We have been offered players with multiple injuries or players who may do harm than good.
“Andy Thorn needs to bring in quality and if he cannot bring in quality then it will raise questions in the players minds. But at the moment, the market is thin in terms of quality.
“Resources have been made available by the Board but there is not the quality available for us to pick. Where there has been such as Alex Nimely, Oliver Norwood and Herman Hreidarsson we have moved upon but we will not compromise and bring players in for the sake of it.”
He claimed that money was not the reason why players City had an interest in like Fulham’s Marcello Trotta were going elsewhere and he said: “Players going elsewhere is not down to money, it is down to circumstance. “
